- No donation from participants, only tweets
- For each tweet, Edelweiss Tokio Life will contribute Rs. 50 to V Care
Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, an Edelweiss Financial Services Group Company, today on the occasion of World Cancer Day, launched a digital initiative called the ‘I care I Tweet’ campaign to promote cancer awareness. The campaign is launched to eclipse the emotional/financial trauma associated with cancer and financially support those people suffering from it.
The ‘I care I Tweet’ campaign works in the manner that for every #CritiCare hashtag, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance (ETLI) will contribute Rs 50 to V Care a voluntary organisation that provides emotional and financial support to Cancer patients.
The campaign is targeted at the young population of the country who are tech savvy and use social networking sites as a basis of communication. In order to participate in the ‘I care I Tweet’ campaign, registered users on Twitter and Facebook will have to change their display picture to Pink or Blue colour to show their support and use the hash tag #CritiCare.
A video will also be released to showcase the reach of the campaign across all social media platforms.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Deepak Mittal, MD & CEO, Edelweiss Tokio Life (@DeepakMittal_) said, “We consider this initiative an extension of our efforts in understanding and reaching out to the ecosystem around us. Today, Cancer causes more deaths than even AIDS, tuberculosis & malaria combined - killing over 20000 people every day. A serious ailment like Cancer is usually also accompanied by serious emotional trauma to not only the patient but also to the family members. Add to it the financial burden, if the person is the only earning member. With multiple layers of sophisticated care available for cancer today, there is a huge scope of continuing normal life after recovery and this ‘care & treatment’ might simply be inaccessible to many due to a mere lack of awareness. We at Edelweiss Tokio Life consider it a privilege to be able to lend ourselves an opportunity to spread Cancer Awareness using a right mix of on ground and social media. All that we request you is to tweet and for each of your tweets we at Edelweiss Tokio Life will contribute Rs. 50 towards V Care”.
The ‘I care I Tweet’campaign will go live from 3rd February and users can participate by tweeting the keyword #CritiCare till February 6th, Friday.
